Basingstoke, 11 April 2018 – Tech Data Corporation (Nasdaq: TECD) has brought Hauppauge’s mySmarthome voice-activated plugs and bulbs to the UK market for the first time.

Available exclusively from Tech Data, the mySmarthome devices allow home users to control their lighting with voice commands via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. They work with any WiFi router without the need for a separate hub or paid subscription service.

Once the plugs or lamps are connected, users simply rename them using the mySmarthome app, which is available for Android and iOS; they can then activate the lighting devices with voice commands.

The Hauppauge mySmarthome voice plug and bulbs are available exclusively from Tech Data in the UK and Ireland. To help retailers get sales moving, there is a promotional ‘buy-five-get-one-free’ offer on the products. This will be available for a limited time only.

Jenny Parkinson, Business Development Manager – CE, Smart Home and New Tech at Tech Data, said: “Hauppauge is a great brand and its mysmarthome plugs and lamps are a great addition to our growing portfolio of smart devices for the home. Being able to control them using Alexa or Assistant makes them really different and very attractive to the many consumers who are already embracing voice activation in the home. They are also a great add-on sale to the Amazon and Google voice systems, so as well as grabbing the attention of consumers, they will help retailers and webstores to boost sales revenues.”
