Distributor unveils Focus on Education guide that will help resellers identify opportunities and capitalise on the peak summertime purchasing period

Basingstoke, 07 July 2016 – Tech Data has launched its Focus on Education guide as part of an extensive programme that will support reseller business development over the peak summertime buying period.

The guide highlights upcoming technologies and areas of opportunity for resellers in the education sector, provides resellers with information on the tools and resources available from Tech Data and details specific value propositions for schools and colleges from key vendor partners.

With the build-up to the summer upgrade season in education now well and truly underway, and schools planning how to prioritise their spending, resellers need to look at propositions they can put forward, said Kirsty Guy, Public Sector Marketing Manager at Tech Data.

“Schools and colleges need to make sure they are well-equipped to support pupils and achieve the best possible outcomes in the year ahead. A strong emphasis on the ‘STEM’ subjects – science, technology, engineering and maths – is expected, so there is likely to be plenty of focus on computing equipment in general, and lots interest in advanced graphics, 3D printing and new technologies such as virtual reality. We are also likely to see upgrades to Windows 10 2-in-1s. Many schools will also be looking seriously at Chromebooks as an option and at affordable collaboration and video conferencing solutions, as well as large-format interactive displays.”

Leading vendors, including Acer, APC, Cisco, Ergotron, HP Enterprise, HP Inc, Microsoft, NETGEAR, Polaroid and Targus, have been preparing special propositions and offers, which are detailed in the Focus on Education Guide.  Tech Data is also ensuring resellers can access special promotions by highlighting products to which special bids for education can be applied on its InTouch online stock availability and ordering system.

The guide also includes information on the extensive range of resources Tech Data makes available to public sector resellers. These include a dedicated microsite and a marketing portal, through which partners can access email templates and banners aimed at education customers. Tech Data has also provided an updated set of products within its virtual classroom online resource. Resellers can use this to explore the different options and technologies available with their own sales teams or, by using the white-label version, with end user customers. Tech Data also runs regular events and tendering workshops on uncovering opportunities in the public sector.

In addition, and significantly for resellers targeting education, Tech Data is providing extra credit facilities. Last month, it made £150 million additional funding available to over 4,000 of its customers and also offered extended payment terms to resellers selling audiovisual solutions to schools. During July, where 50 percent or more of verified orders from education are made up of products sold by Maverick, Tech Data’s specialist audiovisual business, payment terms can be extended till September, on application.

“We are doing everything we can to help resellers maximise their business potential and drive sales growth during the peak period”, said Guy. “The additional credit facilities have already had a significant and very positive impact, and with the Focus on Education guide and the other resources we’re making available, we expect it to be a very good summer for resellers selling into the education sector.”
