Tech Data celebrates International Women’s Day in UK and Ireland

Panel discussions taking place in company’s main UK locations as part of a series of activities designed to highlight the contribution and achievements of women in the technology industry

Basingstoke, 06 March 2020 – Tech Data will be celebrating International Women’s Day in the UK and Ireland today with a series of Elevate programme activities designed to highlight the active role women play in the business and encourage more female members of its team to be ambitious, aim high and achieve more.

Tech Data views the recruitment, retention and advancement of women into leadership positions as essential to Tech Data’s continued success as an industry leader. As part of Tech Data’s Diversity and Inclusion, Elevate is a Business Resource Group dedicated to empowering women to thrive in their careers at Tech Data through development, education and networking. Its goal is to foster an inclusive and equitable environment between Tech Data’s colleagues, channel partners and communities through meaningful interactions.

Women occupy a number of senior positions in the company globally, including Miriam Murphy,  Senior Vice President EMEA, Advanced and Specialist Solutions at Tech Data, who was recently named as one of the 30 most influential women in the European channel, by Channel Partner Insight.

Today, Tech Data will be running an Elevate panel discussion at its Basingstokeoffices, as well as posting on social media – using the hashtag #celebratingthewomenoftechdata – to encourage women to celebrate, participate in and support International Women’s Day. The panel event will be available to all Tech Data colleagues live via Zoom and will be recorded.

Carroll is one of several women who occupy senior positions within Tech Data UK and Ireland. Others include Linda Patterson, Group Marketing Director; Cathi Low, Director, Digital Transformation; Alison Nixon, Business Unit Director – Security; and Anna Marie Constantinou, Business Unit Director, Maverick AV Solutions.

International Women’s Day is being celebrated globally this coming Sunday, 8th March 2020, honouring the achievements of women throughout history and across nations, and providing a global forum to women who want to create a better future for their communities, children and themselves.

The recruitment, retention and advancement of women into leadership positions around the world is essential to the Tech Data’s success. Gender diversity in the workplace is in alignment with the company’s core values. According to research firm McKinsey & Company, the most gender-diverse companies are 21percent more likely to experience above-average profitability.
