Tech Data extends smart security solutions portfolio with Yale

By Simon Meredith | 24th February 2017

Basingstoke, 24 February 2017 – Tech Data has been appointed as a distributor for Yale, making the full range of high quality smart home security solutions from this well-known brand widely available to the UK IT retail channel for the first time.

With immediate effect, Yale’s Smart Door Locks, Smart Home Alarm, EF-Series Alarms and CCTV solutions, including IP cameras, will be available from Tech Data. The signing is a significant addition to the distributor’s smart home portfolio, said Teresa Johnston, Smart Home Business Development Manager at Tech Data UK.

“Yale is a trusted name in home security and gives people the reassurance they will be seeking when it comes to making sure that their home is reliably protected. For Tech Data, it’s an important addition to our expanding range of smart home products and one that will help us to raise our presence in this growing area of the market. Awareness of home security products is growing fast. Yale is a premium brand and already has high visibility in the market and this is exactly the right time to be reaching out to IT retailers.”

Tabitha Morton, Head of Integration at Yale UK, said: “This is the first time that Yale has engaged with the IT retail sector and Tech Data, with its extensive reach and resources, has the capability to take the Smart Living range into new parts of the market, demonstrating to IT retailers the quality and depth of our home security range. We’re excited about this partnership and see great potential in partnering with Tech Data to help grow sales.”

With Yale Smart Door Locks, homes can be secured without the need for a key. They are simple to use and give homeowners complete control of their doors. Access can be granted via PIN code, key card, key tag, remote fob or smartphone depending on preference. Individual users can be added or removed from lists at any time, and access can also be granted to individuals for limited time periods. The locks can also be connected to the Smart Home Alarm and Smart CCTV kits when using a Yale module and battery power means the locks are not dependent on electricity supply.

Yale’s Smart Home Alarm range puts users firmly in control via a mobile app through which they can activate or deactivate the alarm itself. They can also use additional home security products, such as the Yale Power Switch to turn home appliances on or off and a PIR (passive infrared sensor) Image Camera to view images.

The EF-Series Alarms are the result of Yale’s long experience in residential alarm manufacturing and valuable customer feedback. Harnessing pre-programmed wire-free technology, EF-Series Alarms involve no complex installation or wiring and come in four variants that enable home security solutions to be tailored for any property.

Yale’s Home View IP Cameras provide excellent HD720 quality and can be viewed at anytime via smartphone or any other standard mobile device. They support night vision and pan-zoom-tilt options and CCTV packages come complete with a hard drive for video recording and cabling.
