Complete portfolio of smartphones tablets from one of Europe’s leading suppliers of consumer electronics devices are being made widely available to resellers and retailers in the UK and Ireland

Basingstoke, 13 October 2015 – Tech Data Mobile is bringing the exciting range of smartphones, and tablets from BQ, one of Europe’s leading producers and suppliers of consumer-oriented electronics equipment, to the UK market.

Tech Data Mobile has been appointed as a new distributor in the UK and Ireland for the Spanish company, giving British and Irish resellers and retailers the opportunity to offer a brand new range of 100% European-designed devices to their customers.

BQ arrived in the UK market in early 2015 when it released the Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition smartphone, developed by BQ and Canonical. This was the first smartphone in the world to ship with the Ubuntu operating system and its release was an important landmark in the development and evolution of BQ’s open-source philosophy and approach.

The company’s Aquaris family of thin and light Android smartphones feature high-quality IPS displays with toughened glass and extended battery life. High resolution cameras and a specially-designed range of covers provide a complete set of options. A selection of models are available and in a variety of screen sizes, from four to  six inches.

Matt Child, Managing Director of Tech Data Mobile, says that the arrival of BQ in the UK is a significant development, “BQ is an incredible success story and a real pioneer in the Spanish and European markets. Its smartphones and tablets offer high performance, excellent features and amazing affordability. We believe they will be an instant hit in the UK and we look forward to working with BQ to emulate the success it has seen in other markets here in the UK.”

In addition, Tech Data Mobile is planning to add to the appeal of the BQ product range with a unique added-value offering, says Child. “We are still finalising our plans with BQ, but we expect to be providing a customer-centric proposition that will be a game-changer in the UK market.”

Commenting on behalf of BQ, Xavier Gastaminza, Executive Vice President and General Manager Europe for the company, states: “BQ is driven by an ambition to make technology genuinely useful and accessible to everyone. With its extensive reach and coverage of the market, Tech Data Mobile is the perfect partner to launch BQ technology to resellers and retailers in the UK and Ireland. We will be working with Tech Data and supporting them in every way we can to accelerate the awareness and development of the BQ brand.”

BQ also offers a range of 3D printers, including its own Witbox – an A4 bed size device that can produce output up to a height of 20cm. The company designs, develops, optimises and manufactures its 3D range of printers and consumable in Navarra, Spain.
